Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) – One of the greatest composers in history, Bach was deeply religious and dedicated much of his work to the glory of God. Born in Germany, he served as an organist and musical director in Lutheran churches, producing masterpieces such as the cantata Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring (1723), part of the Christmas Oratorio. This piece reflects his faith and his ability to merge musical technique with spiritual devotion. Throughout his life, Bach signed many of his compositions with the phrase “Soli Deo Gloria” (Glory to God Alone), reinforcing his purpose of glorifying the Creator through music.
